institucijama u kojima je javno
kritikovana vlast u vreme tota-
litarizma, naravno alegorično,
pa je ta vrsta umetničkog izraza
bila plodno tlo da se razvije in-
genioznost autora lutaka. Divan
muzej lutaka nalazi se s druge
strane glavnog trga, a pozorište
Alfa i danas neguje tradiciju
lutkarskih predstava.
Od brojnih planiranih izlož-
bi, koncerata, plesnih izvedbi,
svetlosnih i multimedijalnih
instalacija, mnoge će eksklu-
zivnošću izazvati pažnju. Ipak
globalnu pažnju će dobiti izlož-
ba 49 portreta Maora, radova
slikara Gotfrida Lindauera iz
19. veka, koje pripadnici ovog
polinezijskog plemena smatraju
svojim nacionalnim blagom i
nikada ih nisu izneli sa Novog
Zelanda. Lindauer, umetnik
čudne životne sudbine, rođen
je u Plzenu, a u svet se otisnuo
preko Beča, gde je studirao
slikarstvo. Obreo se na Novom
Zelandu, gde su ga Maori, po-
znati po krupnim tetovažama
lica, prihvatili kao svog suna-
rodnika. Zbirka portreta maor-
skih poglavica do kraja aprila je
izložena u Berlinu, a od 5. maja
se prikazuje u Plzenu.
Plzen je ove godine postao i
centralna pozornica za novi cir-
kus, artističku vrstu umetnosti
sa akrobatskim elementima, koja
u poslednje vreme dobija veliki
broj sledbenika širom Evrope.
Zahvaljujući Peteru Formanu,
inače sinu proslavljenog češ-
kog režisera Miloša Formana,
u gradu će se održati pedeset
cirkuskih predstava najeminen-
tnijih evropskih trupa. Trupe iz
Švajcarske, Francuske, Italije,
Španije, pokušaće da pred publi-
kom u Plzenu redefinišu ulogu
cirkusa u savremenoj umetnosti.
Plzen je za turiste koji
dolaze u grad pripremio in-
dividualizovane turističke
digitalizovane programe pod
nazivom „Skriveni Plzen“ koji se
mogu pratiti preko aplikacija na
mobilnim telefonima. Virtuelni
vodiči, meštani, provešće vas
kroz svoje viđenje grada i mesta
koja oni najviše vole, a nisu
klasične turističke atrakcije.
Ali da bi se pravilno shvatio
identitet Plzena, neizostavna
stanica je Muzej pivare Pilsner
Urkel. Tamo ćete, pored istorij-
skog pregleda dobiti i vaučere
za dve besplatne krigle piva koje
možete da iskoristite u nekoliko
gradskih kafea. Pivo je deo iden-
titeta lokalnog stanovništva, ali i
tačka susreta dve kulture, češke
i nemačke, koje se u ovom gradu
tako snažno prožimaju. Ova
godina je vreme za Plzen.

Trnka’s Museum is located
in Pilsen’s central square, while
the exhibition of his works is
part of the city’s rich puppeteer
tradition. Puppet theatres were
among the few institutions
where the government was
criticised publicly during the
time of totalitarianism, of course
allegorically, so this kind of
artistic expression was fertile
ground to develop the ingenu-
ity of the creators of puppets.
The wonderful doll museum
is located on the other side of
the main square, while the Alfa
Theatre still nurtures the pup-
pet theatre tradition today.
Of the numerous planned
exhibitions, concerts, dance
performances, light and mul-
timedia installations, many
will attract exclusive attention.
However, global attention will
be attracted by an exhibition of
portraits of 49 Polynesian Maori
tribal chiefs from the 19
th
cen-
tury, which are works of painter
Gottfried Lindauer, which are
considered by the Maori as their
national treasures and which
have never been presented be-
yond New Zealand. Lindauer, an
artist with a strange destiny, was
born in Pilsen and headed out
to the world via Vienna, where
he studied painting. He found
himself in New Zealand, where
the Maori, known for their large
tattoos on their faces, accepted
him like one of their country-
men. The collection of portraits
of Maori chiefs is exhibited in
Berlin until the end of April,
then from 5
th
May it will be
shown in Pilsen.
This year Pilsen also
became the central stage for a
new circus, an artistic type of
art with acrobatic elements that
has received a large following
throughout Europe in recent
years. Thanks to Peter Forman,
the son of celebrated Czech
director Miloš Forman, the city
will host 50 circus performanc-
es of the most eminent Europe-
an troupes. Circus troupes from
Switzerland, France, Italy and
Spain will perform before the
Pilsen audience and attempt to
redefine the role of the circus in
contemporary art.
For tourists who come to
the city, Pilsen has prepared
individualised digitised tourist
programmes under the title
“Hidden Pilsen”, which can be
monitored via a mobile phone
app. Virtual guides, locals, will
lead you through their vision of
the city and the places they love
most, which are not traditional
tourist attractions.
However, in order to prop-
erly grasp the identity of Pilsen,
it is obligatory to make a stop at
the Pilsner Urquell Brewery Mu-
seum. There, in addition to an
historical overview, you will also
receive a voucher for two free
pints of beer that you can use at
several city bars. Beer is part of
the identity of the local popula-
tion, but also the meeting point
between two cultures, Czech and
German, which are so strongly
intertwined in this city. This year
is time for Pilsen.
