U roskildskoj katedrali, osveštanoj 960. godine sahranjeni su gotovo svi danski kraljevi tokom poslednjih 1000 godina.

The Roskilde Cathedral, consecrated in 960AD, is the final resting place of almost all Danish monarchs over the last 1000 years.
etnografskog poduhvata, prave
naučne epopeje, koja je u savre-
meno vreme zaokupljala ove na-
slednike Vikinga. Pored muzeja,
naime, uređeno je pravo vikin-
ško brodogradilište. Tu su počeli
usvajati „retrotehnologije“ za
gradnju „dugih brodova“. Prva i
najteža disciplina bila je – izrada
drvene građe od četiri vrste
stabala koji se u brodogradnji
tih laganih korita koriste. Sve
se obavlja ručno, jedinstvenim
vikinškim oruđem, ujedno njiho-
vim strašnim oružjem – pljosna-
tom sekirom duge oštrice, koja
omogućuje glatko tesanje.
Timovi arheologa i etno-
grafa izgradili su celu flotu
replika, prvo manjeg ratnog
broda sa 13 pari vesala, a zatim
teretni, trbušast trgovački je-
drenjak i konačno, veliki, pravi
vikinški krstaš, „dugi brod“ sa
60 veslača, identičnu kopiju
muzejskog originala. Građen
je četiri godine, porinut 2004,
a danska kraljica krstila ga je
„Morski pastuv“. S posadom
mladih Danaca, otvorena lađa,
nalik na malo veći veslački
osmerac, otplovila je hiljadu
kilometara preko Atlantika, do
Dablina u Irskoj!
Tako je ponovljen podvig
čuvenog poglavice Ragnara
Dlakavih Pantalona (Ragnar
Lodbrok), junaka saga, koji
je prvi preplovio duboko
more bez kompasa i 8. juna
793. pristao u severoistočnoj
Engleskoj. Opljačkao je jedan
manastir, redovnike odvukao
u roblje i tako je započela
vikinška era. Nedugo potom,
Ragnarova flota ušla je u Senu i
spalila Pariz…

borne adventures, stands the
giant complex or Roskilde Ca-
thedral. This minster is the seat
of the Danish Lutheran Church.
Portraits of its bishops line the
choir – from the 12
th
century
Archbishop Absalon all the
way to the immediate prede-
cessor of the current resident,
Bishop Peter Fischer-Moeller,
a tall, skinny, bearded man in a
motorcycle jacket, who is very
active on Twitter.
This cathedral is the
final resting place of almost
every Danish king. The first,
Harald Bluetooth, provided the
inspiration for the name of the
telephone interface technology
known as Bluetooth. He conse-
crated the first church on this
site – in around 960AD – laying
the foundations of Danish
Christianity.
Bluetooth and his son
Sweyn Forkbeard, who is also
entombed at Roskilde Cathe-
dral, created a great northern
empire that then encompassed,
alongside the “Nordic Triangle”
of Denmark, Sweden and
Norway, the whole of England,
Ireland and the land of Vandala
in northern Germany, as well as
colonies in Iceland, Greenland
and North America. It is no
accident that these areas are
today the most developed and
most advanced parts of Europe
and the world…
In the barbaric period a
thousand years ago, Viking
plunderers on longboats sailed
to the very boundaries of the
known world. They founded the
Moscow, Novgorod and Kiev
states, ruled England, Norman-
dy and Sicily, and even arrived
at the walls of Constantinople.
At the centre of that global
domain, which is associated
with today’s Maersk merchant
shipping empire, was lo-
cated the Viking capital city of
Roskilde. There, in undisturbed
peacefulness, like that of the
eye of a hurricane, the spirit of
Danish culture formed over a
thousand years. Danes are open
and adventurous, exceptional
designers who express them-
selves best in the shaping of
wood, in which they are still the
leading power today. They cre-
ated a social state and national
community marked by simplic-
ity, unpretentiousness and
democratic and philanthropic
Maleni gradić Roskilde, ure-
dan i savršen kao da je složen
od drvenih lego-kocaka,
nepoznato je središte danske
nordijske ekumene, ujedno
živi muzej njihove posebne
kulture.

The small town of Roskilde,
orderly and perfect as though
constructed from wooden
Lego bricks, is the unknown
centre of Danish Nordic ecu-
menism and simultaneously
a living museum of their par-
ticular culture.
