SUPERHEROJI I VEČITA
BORBA DOBRA I ZLA
Strip je odbranio svoje me-
sto u industriji zabave, iako se
činilo da su ga u nepreglednoj
ponudi potisnule video-igre,
kompjuterska animacija i film.
Za sve kojima su
Princ Valijant,
Poručnik Bluberi, Talični Tom,
Iznogud, Tintin, Alan Ford, Kor-
to Malteze, Dilan Dog, Marti
Misterija, Asteriks, Gaston, Rip
Kirbi
ili
Modesti Blejz
bili način
uzbudljivog odrastanja i izraz
prirodne pobune duha, strip je
bio i ostao omiljeno štivo. Fan-
tastične avanture, superheroji,
romantične i mračne priče, i ve-
čita borba dobra i zla, u sekven-
cijalnim crtežima i dalje imaju
brojnu publiku.
– Tradicija stripa u Srbi-
ji zvanično traje oko 75 godina
– kaže Vladimir Vesović, aka-
demski slikar grafičar, koji od
1992. vodi svoju Školu stripa
„Đorđe Lobačev“.
– Istoričari stripa smatraju
da je zlatno doba stripa u Srbiji
nastupilo sredinom tridesetih, sa
pojavom crtača kao što su Đorđe
Lobačev, Đuka Janković, Sergej
Solovjev, Kuznjecov. Potom je
naišao kratak prekid posle Dru-
gog svetskog rata, a najveći kre-
ativni talas nastupio je počet-
kom sedamdesetih i trajao sve
do kraja osamdesetih, kada su
stripovi štampani u, danas neza-
mislivim, milionskim tiražima.
Uprkos ekonomskoj krizi i
nedostatku šire društvene po-
drške, strip scena se i dalje živo
razvija, zahvaljujući i Međuna-
rodnom salonu stripa, koji je
septembra ove godine održan
dvanaesti put, a čiji je suosni-
vač i Vladimir Vesović.
– Nije to jedina manifesta-
cija stripa koja postoji u Srbiji
– dodaje Vesović. – Takvih ma-
nifestacija ima kod nas mno-
go, da spomenemo Balkan-
sku smotru mladih strip auto-
ra u Leskovcu, festivale stripa
u Zrenjaninu, Nišu, Pirotu, Kra-
gujevcu, Novom Sadu… I ovo-
godišnji beogradski salon skre-
nuo je pažnju široj javnosti na
sam fenomen stripa, na njego-
vu zastupljenost i scenu i na
veliki broj autora.
e
are fertile ground and that
they could find a lot of talent-
ed young people in the region.
Room was, thus, opened up to
our authors for serious profes-
sional engagements and affir-
mation of their works.
SUPERHEROES AND
THE ETERNAL
STRUGGLE BETWEEN
GOOD AND EVIL
Strip defended its place in
the entertainment industry, al-
though it seemed to have been
greatly marginalised by vid-
eo games, computer anima-
tion and film. For all those for
whom Prince Valiant, Lieuten-
ant Blueberry, Lucky Luke, Izn-
ogoud, Tintin, Alan Ford, Corto
Maltese, Dylan Dog, Marti Mys-
tery, Asterix, Gaston, Rip Kirby
or Modesty Blaise were a way
of bringing excitement to their
upbringing and an expression
of the natural spirit of rebellion,
comic books were, and remain,
their favourite reading material.
Fantastic adventures, superhe-
roes, romantic and dark stories,
and the eternal struggle be-
tween good and evil, in sequen-
tial drawings, still enjoy a huge
audience.
– The tradition of comics in
Serbia has officially lasted for
around 75 years – says Vladimir
Vesović, an academic graph-
ic artist who has run the Đorđe
Lobačev School of Comic Art
since 1992.
– Comic strip historians
consider the golden age of
comics in Serbia as having oc-
curred in the mid-1930s, with
the emergence of artists such as
Đorđe Lobačev, Đuka Janković,
Sergej Solovjev and Kuznjec-
ov. Then followed a short break
after World War II, while the
most creative wave occurred in
the early 1970s and lasted until
the late ‘80s, when comic books
were printed in their millions
of copies, something that is un-
thinkable today.
Despite the economic crisis
and a lack of broad social sup-
port, the comic book scene is
still alive and growing, thanks
in part to Belgrade’s Interna-
tional Comics Festival, which
was held this September for
the twelfth time and whose
co-founder is also Vladimir
Vesović.
- That’s not the only com-
ic strip event that exists in Ser-
bia – adds Vesović. – There are
many such events in our coun-
try, just to name the Balkan Fes-
tival of Young Comic Book Art-
ists in Leskovac and festival of
comics in Zrenjanin, Niš, Pirot,
Kragujevac, Novi Sad etc. And
this year’s Belgrade comics fes-
tival drew the attention of the
general public to the phenom-
enon of comics and their repre-
sentation, as well as the comic
strip scene and a large number
of authors.
