Er Srbija u fokusu
/ Air Serbia close up
Serbs from the Sydney area, who tend to be devoted
to Serbia and always willing to help their country of
origin, were very interested to learn about Air Serbia
and the great success achieved by the company in a
very short space of time. Numerous questions let to
talks being extended deep into the night, and at times
that evening it seemed as though Australia and Serbia
were much closer.
PRESENTATIONS AT LOCAL FESTIVALS
Air Serbia supported the Serbian Festival in
Sydney on 7
th
and 8
th
February. Taking place for the
third consecutive year, this festival brings together
tens of thousands of representatives of the Serbian
community in Australia, along with other citizens
of Sydney and tourists. Organized by the Serbian
Society of Orthodox Youth of Australia (SOYA), the
festival took place in the picturesque and very popu-
lar Darling Harbour, adjacent to the city centre and
one of the main tourist attractions of Sydney, as well
as the nearby Tumbalong Park. Air Serbia had its
own stand at the festival, enabling a large number of
visitors to acquaint themselves with the airline’s of-
fer, as well as learning about the special promotional
price of tickets that lasted until the end of February.
A prize draw for participants was also organised, with
the winner receiving two free return tickets from
Australia to Belgrade.
Air Serbia representatives were simultaneously pres-
ent in Melbourne, to attend the traditional “Maslenica”
Pan-Slavic Festival of Pancakes. Co-pilot Savić was even
given the special honour of opening the festival.
Promotions in Sydney saw the Air Serbia delega-
tion joined by the Republic of Serbia’s highest repre-
sentatives in Australia, led by Consul General Branko
Radošević, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox
Church in Australia, headed by Bishop Irinej of
Australia and New Zealand, as well as representatives
of the Australian Federal Parliament and local authori-
ties in Sydney.
Beograd – novo
čvorište Istočne
Evrope
„Pokušavamo da od Beograda
stvorimo čvorište, koje sada počinje
da biva konkurencija aerodromima
kao što je Beč, koji je godinama
bio čvorište za taj deo sveta, kapija
prema Centralnoj i Istočnoj Evropi.
Beograd je sjajna tačka preko koje
se stiže na jadransku obalu koja je
sada turističko žarište – čak i za put-
nike iz Australije.“
e
Belgrade – new
hub for Eastern
Europe
“We’re trying to develop Belgrade
into a hub and so it’s really starting
to compete now against the likes
of Vienna, which was probably for
many years the hub in that part of
the world, which was the gateway to
central and eastern Europe. It’s a great
gateway to the Adriatic coast which is
a really big hotspot for tourism now —
even from out of Australia.’’
Najčudesniji
preokret
Kondićev prvi kraj godine na ru-
kovodećoj poziciji u Er Srbiji obeležio
je 2013. gubitak od 73 miliona evra.
Bivši Kvantasov direktor za po-
slovni razvoj uveren je da će druga
godina aviokompaniji osnovanoj
1927, osmoj najstarijoj na svetu,
ponovo vratiti stari sjaj.
„Za malu aviokompaniju pre-
lazak iz gubitka od 73 miliona evra
u pozitivno poslovanje predstavlja
herkulovski poduhvat“, rekao je
Ostrelijanu
tokom nedavne posete,
čiji je cilj bio da ponovo poveže
kompaniju sa srpskom zajednicom
u Australiji.
„Već smo ranije nagoveštavali
da će se 2014. godina završiti s ma-
lim profitom. Kada revizori završe
svoj posao i to potvrde, mislim da će
to biti jedan od najčudesnijih preo-
kreta u vazduhoplovnoj istoriji.“

Most amazing
turnarounds
Kondic’s first full year in the
driver’s seat saw Air Serbia finish
2013 with a €73m loss.
The former Qantas business
development manager is confident
his second year will see the world’s
eight oldest airline, established in
1927, back in the black.
“For a small airline, going
from a €73m loss to something
in positive territory is going to be
a herculean effort,’’ he told The
Australian during a recent visit to
reconnect the airline with Australia’s
Serbian community.
“We’ve made some public state-
ments that we are working towards
a small profit for the year of 2014.
Once the auditors finish their work
and confirm that, I think it will prob-
ably be one of the most amazing
turnarounds in history.’’
