klimatskih promena
Stanovnici Strazbura su pokazali najveće poverenje u Evropi u
svoju gradsku upravu, kada je reč o borbi protiv klimatskih promena.
Na pitanje da li je njihov grad posvećen uvođenju mera za energetsku
efikasnost i ekološki čist javni transport, 81 odsto građana, ubedljivo
najviše među 79 ispitanih gradova, izjasnilo se afirmativno. Ispitivanje je
sprovela britanska Kancelarija za nacionalnu statistiku 2012, a rezultati
su objavljeni prošlog meseca.

Strasbourg versus climate change
When it comes to combating climate change, the inhabitants of
Strasbourg seem to have the most faith in their city government. When
asked if their city is dedicated to introducing measures for energy ef-
ficiency and ecologically clean public transportation, 81 per cent of citi-
zens replied positively. This is the highest percentage reported in a study
spanning 79 cities. The research was conducted by the UK Office for
National Statistics in 2012, while the results were published last month.

Budimpešti
Budimpešta je ovog leta, po prvi
put, uvela 1100 jarkozelenih bicikala za
iznajmljivanje pod zajedničkim nazivom
BuBi (budimpeštanski bicikl). Bicikli se
mogu uzimati i ostavljati na 76 tačaka
raspoređenih po centru grada i na obe
obale Dunava. Opremljeni su odašilja-
čima za praćenje u slučaju krađe i za
detekciju oštećenja, pa klijenti odgo-
varaju za bicikl samo tokom vožnje.
Dvotočkaši će olakšati kretanje mešta-
na i turista po starom gradskom jezgru.

Keramički vinski pehar, iz kojeg je, kako tvrde arheo-
lozi, pio slavni Perikle, najznačajniji državnik i vojskovođa
antičke Grčke, pronađen je dok su kopani temelji za novu
zgradu u severnom delu Atine. Na osnovu šest imena
urezanih na peharu, stručnjaci su utvrdili da je Perikle pe-
har koristio zajedno sa svojim starijim bratom i još četvo-
ricom prijatelja, verovatno za vreme jedne „vinske gozbe“,
u ranoj mladosti. Perikle je
vladao Atinom od 461. do
429. godine pre nove ere, a
zaslužan je i što je čitav taj period
poznat kao „zlatno doba Atine“.

Pericles’ wine cup
discovered
The ceramic wine cup that famous ancient Greek
statesman and military commander Pericles drank from
was unearthed as the foundations were being laid for a
new building in northern Athens. Based on the six names
carved into the cup, experts determined that Pericles used
it along with his elder brother and four other friends, most
likely during a „wine symposium“ when Pericles was in
his early youth. Pericles ruled Athens from 461 to 429 B.C.
and is credited with ushering in the “Athenian golden age”.
The wine cup, a rare and valuable discovery, will be
on exhibition in the Epigraphical Museum in Athens from
this autumn.

BuBi in Budapest
This summer Budapest has for
the first time introduced 1,100 bright
green bicycles for rent, called BuBi
(Budapest bicycles). The bikes can
be picked up and left at 76 different
locations in the city centre and on
both banks of the Danube. They’re
equipped with tracking devices, in
the case of theft, and damage de-
tection devices. As such, clients are
responsible for the bicycle only while
they’re riding it. The two-wheelers
will make travel around the city cen-
tre easier for both tourists and locals.
