Grad Topola, pod šumovitim brdom
Oplenac, okružen je dolinama reka
Kamenice i Jasenice. Ljubitelji vina mogu
da isprobaju čuvena oplenačka kraljevska
vina i obiđu Kraljevu vinariju, osnovanu
1930. godine, ili neku od modernih poro-
dičnih vinarija toga kraja. Dve zadužbine
kraljevske dinastije mogu se posetiti na
teritoriji opštine Topola: Crkva Svetog Đo-
rđa – Mauzolej porodice Karađorđević na
Oplencu i Karađorđev grad.

The town of Topola is located at the
foot of the forested Oplenac Hill,
surrounded by the valleys of the rivers
Kamenica and Jasenica. Here wine lovers
visiting Topola can try the famous Oplenac
royal wines and tour the King’s Winery,
founded in 1930, or some of the modern
family wineries of the region. Two endow-
ments of a royal dynasty can be visited on
the territory of the municipality of Topola:
the Church of St. George – the mausoleum
of the Karađorđević
family on Oplenac, and
Karadjordje Town.

National Tourism Organisation of Serbia
conducted the first national
competition programme of the European Commission to select European
Destinations of ExcelleNce - EDEN 2014 in Serbia.
Evropa je puna skrovitih kutaka
koji čekaju da budu otkriveni. Program
Evropske komisije, EDEN pronalazi
i promoviše upravo takva, tajnovita,
od očiju turista skrivena mesta, koja u
svojim mikrokosmosima taje neobične
lepote i nebrojene misterije.

promoviše modele održivog razvoja tu-
rizma. Svake godine se na nacionalnom
nivou u evropskim zemljama organizu-
ju konkursi za
„Izuzetnu destinaciju
Evrope“
. Tu laskavu titulu mogu da
ponesu destinacije koje kao glavne
principe turističkog razvoja imaju soci-
jalnu, kulturnu i ekološku održivost.
Potraga za izuzetnim destinacijama
Evrope svake godine se odvija pod za-
jedničkom temom koju sa nacionalnim
telima zaduženim za turizam bira Evrop-
ska komisija. Srbija je u ovom programu
prvi put učestvovala 2014. godine sa
temom „Turizam i lokalno nemateri-
jalno kulturno nasleđe“. Pobednička
EDEN destinacija je Knjaževac, a prate
je – Kovačica, Zlatar, Topola i Kučevo.
Izborom destinacije programa EDEN
skreće se pažnja na vrednosti, različitosti
i bogatstvo koje Evropa nudi, povećava
se vidljivost mestâ čije vreme tek dolazi,
stvara osnova za razmenu iskustava i
dobre prakse širom Evrope, te promoviše
umrežavanje nagrađenih destinacija.

waiting to be discovered. It is precisely
these spots that EDEN finds and pro-
motes – secretive places, hidden from
the eyes of tourists, which conceal un-
usual beauty and countless mysteries in
their small microcosms.

ce) is a European Com-
mission programme that promotes
models of sustainable tourism devel-
opment. Every year at the national
level European countries organize
competitions for
European Destina-
tions of Excellence
. This flattering
title can be awarded to destinations
which, as the main principles of tour-
ism development, are socially, cultur-
ally and environmentally sustainable.
The hunt for exceptional destinations
of Europe every year develops around
common themes that are selected by
the European Commission, together
with national institutions responsible
for tourism. Serbia participated in
this programme for the first time in
2014, with the theme “Tourism and
local intangible heritage”. Serbia’s
winning EDEN destination for 2014
is Knjaževac, followed by Kovačica,
Zlatar, Topola and Kučevo.
The selection of EDEN destinations
draws attention to the values, diversity
and richness of the European tourism
offer, increasing the visibility of places
whose time is yet to come, creating a
basis for the exchange of experiences
and good practices across Europe by
promoting the networking of awarded
destinations.

Turistička organizacija Srbije
sprovela je prvi nacionalni konkurs programa
Evropske komisije za izbor Izuzetne destinacije Evrope – EDEN 2014. u Srbiji.
Mozaička dekoracija
oplenačke crkve prostire
se na 3570 kvadratnih
metara i izrađena je
od petnaest hiljada
nijansi boja, a ukrašena
pozlatom od četrnaesto-
karatnog i dvadesetoka-
ratnog zlata.

church stretches over
an area of 3,570m
2
and
comprises an unbeliev-
able 15,000 colours
and is decorated with
gilding of 14 carat and
20 carat gold.
