muzej
Fondacija Luj Viton otvorila
je novi, monumentalni muzej
umetnosti u Parizu, rad
američkog arhitekte Frenka
Gerija (na fotografiji). Muzej, u
kome će se organizovati spektakularne
umetničke izložbe i performansi, građen
je 13 godina na skupocenoj lokaciji –
obodu Bulonjske šume. Izgradnju je
finansirao najbogatiji čovek Francuske,
Bernar Arno, koji se nalazi na čelu kon-
glomerata luksuznih brendova LVMH.
Retrospektiva radova arhitekte Gerija,
koji je projektovao i koncertnu dvoranu
„Volt Dizni“ u Los Anđelesu i Gugenhajm
muzej u španskom gradu Bilbau, biće
prikazana od 1. novembra.

museum
The Louis Vuitton Foundation has
opened a new, monumental museum of
art in Paris that is the work of American
architect Frank Gehry (pictured).The
museum, which will
host spectacular
art exhibitions
and performances,
was built over
the course of 13 years on an expensive
spot – the edge of the Bois de Boulogne
forest park. Construction was financed
by the richest man in France, Bernard
Arnault, who is the CEO of luxury brands
conglomerate LVMH. A retrospective of
the architecture work of Gehry, who also
designed the Los Angeles Walt Disney
Concert Hall and the building of the Gug-
genheim Museum in the Spanish city of
Bilbao, will be shown from 1
st
November.

Evening strolls
around Vienna
Vienna is much more dramatic at night,
when the street lights cause harsh shadows
to run wild on the façades of magnificent
buildings. In the winter months, when the
sun sets early, it is best to experience an
evening walking tour that visitors are of-
fered around the city centre. The opera, St.
Stephen’s Cathedral, the Imperial Palace,
museums and many other places, will reveal
themselves to lovers of architecture and his-
tory in an entirely different (night) light.

perspective– the narrow
canals that permeate
the very centre of this
megalopolis. More than
6000 kilometres of canals
were built in the UK in
the 18

and 19

centuries
to transport goods. They
enabled the industrial
revolution until the
emergence of rail trans-
port. The most famous
example in London is
Regent‘s Canal, which is
13.8 km long (pictured).
One-off cruises are orga-
nized for tourists along
the picturesque canals in
the kind of narrow boats
used in the 19th century.
