Dodatno, kompanija nudi i efikasnu uslugu kombinovanog

prevoza sa drumskim transportom širom Balkana i Sjedinjenih

Država, do mesta isporuke robe koja se prevozi. Tu moguć-

nost počele su da koriste i kompanije iz Makedonije, Bosne

i Hercegovine i Turske.

pošte Srbije, Slovenije, Bugarske i Sjedinjenih Država.

August Air Serbia is offering promotional prices for

cargo transportation between Belgrade and New York. The

load-carrying capacity under the passenger compartment of the

wide-bodied Airbus A330, with which the company flies from

Belgrade to New York five times a week, is 15 tonnes or 40 cubic

metres.

“The company is also offering a combined and efficient road

transport service across the Balkans and the United States This

possibility has started to be utilised by companies from Macedo-

nia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey.

The number of cargo transport clients from Belgrade to the

United States has been growing rapidly since the establishment

of the direct flight to New York on 23

rd

June this year. There has

been a particular increase in demand for the transportation of

postal deliveries across the Atlantic. This service is already be-

ing used by the postal services of Serbia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and

the United States.

Osim toga, kako Srbija sve

više postaje destinacija za od-

mor, nadamo se da ćemo pri-

vući više putnika. Pogledajte,

u mnogim publikacijama piše

da je Srbija sjajna destinacija

koju treba posetiti i videti.

Treće, nastojimo da Beograd

zadobije poziciju ulazne tačke

ka obali Jadranskog mora u

Hrvatskoj i Crnoj Gori.

Q

Avio-kompanija Etihad

je vlasnik 49% Er Srbije,

a vaša avio-kompanija je deo

Etihad ejviejšen grupe. Koliko

vam to znači?

– To nam zapravo znači

sve, jer bez toga ne bismo

leteli za Sjedinjene Države.

e

Q

Air Serbia flies to 44

destinations in more than

30 countries, but Belgrade-New

York will be your first transat-

lantic route and your first long-

haul route of any kind. Tell us

about that decision

.

-

It’s about trade, invest-

ment, opportunity, growth,

jobs. This decision is also

a cathartic one. It’s about

changing the ways of old and

the path this country was

on beforehand and moving

forward.

The fact that Serbia has

expressed a very strong desire

to join the EU should be a

strong signal about where Ser-

bia sees itself in the broader

scheme.

Q

Do you have more U.S.

routes planned?

-

Today we have seven

destinations that we operate

in codeshare with Air Berlin,

which is part of the Etihad

Partners group. We still

codeshare with them to New

York, since our flight will be

only five days a week, and we

codeshare to Chicago, Miami,

San Francisco, Los Angeles,

Boston and Fort Myers [Fla.].

We go via Dusseldorf [Germa-

ny] and Berlin.

We can’t fly everywhere.

We obviously chose New York

as the first staging post, and

we are organically growing our

footprint through codeshare

relationships.

Q

Tell us why U.S. travelers

should go to Serbia. What

does it offer?

-

A path less traveled is

one probably that you should

travel.

Flying as a young brand

is no easy feat, but we’re

lucky in that we have a fairly

sizable diaspora in the U.S.

There are 200,000 people who

are Serbian and of Serbian

descent coupled with just as

many people who are from

the remainder of the former

Yugoslavian federation.

Apart from that, as Serbia

grows as a leisure destination,

we hope to draw more passen-

gers. Read many publications;

they will tell you Serbia is a

great destination to go out and

see. Third, we are positioning

Belgrade as a gateway into the

Adriatic coast of Croatia and

Montenegro.

Q

Etihad owns 49% of Air

Serbia and you are part

of the Etihad Aviation Group.

What has that meant to you?

-

For us it has meant

everything, because without

that we wouldn’t be flying to

the U.S.
