Utovreme, na graničnom prostoru između tvrđave i varoši, počinjuda se grade i otvaraju kalemegdanski hoteli. Jedan od njih je hotel Nacional, koji niče na mestu stare mehane. U hotelu je, poslerazvoda, živeočuveni književnik Milovan Glišić, a 1892. kupuje ga državnik Nikola Pašić. Hroničari beleže da je na početku rada hotel svojimgostimanudiofijakere sa poslugom, ada supredPrvi svetski ratunjemuprikazivanebioskopske predstave. The history of the operations of the Hotel Nacional came to an end in 1929, when it was leased by the Serbian Orthodox Church as a residence and working building of the Patriarchate. The building of Hotel Nacionalwas reclassifiedasacultural asset of theCityof Belgrade in1984.
