I dreamt from an early age of marrying at the Hôtel du CapEden-Roc in Antibes, which as a little girl seemed to me to resemble a fairy-tale castle. And my dream came true,”we’re told by fashion blogger Anja Valente (27), whose parents – Snežana and Dragan‘Piksi’Stojković – tied the knot 30 years earlier near Antibes, in the famous Cannes, andwho leads us on this tour of the French Riviera, the Côte d’Azur. Anja’s birthplace was determined by the sporting career of her father, the famous Serbian footballerwhoplayed for theOlympique de Marseille in the 1990s, and it was on the Côte d’Azur, the French Riviera, that she fell in love while holidaying with her family. The coast and its tourist hubs – Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, Menton, Nice and Antibes – have somuch to o er, and the last resort, which holds an important place in Anja’s biography, is the best stop en route to Nice, located 20 kilometres away. “The oldpart resembles a labyrinth surroundedby 16th-century ramparts. It is there that the best Nice salad is served and it’s quite a tranquil place. Nearby is the Picasso Museum, and as the artist himself said, “If you want to see Picasso from Antibes, you must see him in Antibes,” says Anja describing the city, whicheachMay becomes a favourite destination for world stars invited toattend theCannes Film Festival. They come to this small resort town 12 kilometres away precisely because of the‘Cap-Eden-Roc’, which is one of the world’s most famous hotels. “Perfect gardens facing theMediterranean, highceilings, original oils on canvas, delicate mahogany tables, books on shelves that you want to read, a swimming pool carved out of rock, a 300-metre lane extending from the main building to the seafront, and the place where I wanted to marry... It’s di cult to singleout one detail, because every one is fairy-tale-like,”says Anja, revealing why she decided to celebrateher important day in the historic town of Antibes. Prior to her celebration, she stayed several times at the hotel located on the boulevard named after John F. Kennedy, who was himself a guest there, as were the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Marlene Dietrich and Orson Welles, but no previous visit could compare to the wedding, which was staged in April 2018. “When I’m there and lying beside the pool with a cocktail in my hand, I feel like part of Slim Aarons’ famous Hôtel du CapEden-Roc photograph. And the culinary specialities are a story in their own right... The rooms are named after famous people who stayed in them, so there’s the George ClooneyVilla, Madonna Suite and Leonard DiCaprio Room that overlooks the Mediterranean. I nd it interesting that ElizabethTaylor’s suitcases arrived at the hotel a week before she did.” The hotel preserves secrets of the love between Liz Taylor andRichardBurton, who also spent their honeymoon in theheart of Antibes, and permanently recorded there are also the moIgo je Anjina prva ljubav, zabavljali su se četiri godine pre azurne svadbe iz snova Hugo is Anja’s first love, they courted for four years prior to their dream Côte d’Azur wedding The coast and its tourist centres Saint Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, Nice and Antibes, are not only glamorous, but also incredibly beautiful Obala i njeni turistički centri Sen Trope, Kan, Monako, Nica i Antib nisu samo glamurozni nego i nestvarno lepi iStock / RossHelen
