INTERVJU / INTERVI EW 34 | Kuhinja » Cuisine T HE L I T T L E SECR E TS OF J AM I E OL I VE R Food is the perfect excuse for people to come together When you’re with people you love and are able to relax and enjoy each other's company, to see how they react to a meal and to laugh together, that’s what makes life worthwhile THERE ARE A FEW WORLD-RENOWNED CHEFS whosenames will immediatelycross your mind, and one of them is certainly charming Brit Jamie Oliver. He has created numerous shows to date, as well as campaigning to promote healthy food, particularly in schools, but he’s certainly made unique by the irresistible ease with which he prepares food; the way he enjoys the food he cooks, the joy that emanates fromhis kitchen and the way he makes everything look easy-peasy, evenwhen it isn't.That’s why Jamie Oliver reveals the secrets of his kitchen to Elevate, and whether he has a successor among his children. We start by asking him what a typical day in the life of his family kitchen looks like... - The skills of my son Buddy have progressed nicely over time, so you could say it’s possible that he will soon replace me [laughs]. He’s always happy tohelp and, tobehonest, all the kids have had their moments. Poppy andDaisy are nowalready experimenting in the kitchen a lot, which also makes me happy, explains our interlocutor. Family, home and kitchen inextricably linked... - I passionately believe that cooking is one of the most valuable and beautiful skills you can teach a child. Trust your instincts and use common sense to define which tasks they can help with, depending on their age and level of skill. It’s always good to start with little things, like mixing andmeasuring, picking herbs, washing vegetables etc. Later, once they start feeling comfortable in the kitchen, take things a step further. Taking the kids with you when shopping for food is also incredibly valuable, particularly if you have an opportunity to take them to an open market. Most of all, have fun and encourage them to try.
