Hotel Moskva Hotel Moskva is one of the buildings that shaped Terazije’s urban silhouette and is certainly the most photographed and recognisable symbol of this part of the city. The plot on the corner of Terazije and Balkanska streets was initially bought by St. Petersburg-based insurance company Rossiya for the purposes of constructing the building that would house its company, and it was this Russian company that selected the design project of Jovan Ilkić, which he developed in cooperation with Russian architects. One of the most beautiful examples of art nouveau architecture took shape with ample use of decoration and newmaterials – Swedish granite, reinforced concrete, faience ceramics and marble. Hotel Moskva has been protected a cultural monument of great importance to Serbia since 1979.
