smešten je na Dedinju, ot-
menom beogradskom kraju,
na mestu sa koga se pruža
možda najlepši panoramski
pogled na grad, u bujnom
zelenilu parka sa kaskadnim
spletom staza i prostranih
platoa. Veličanstveni polo-
žaj nije slučajan, jer muzej je
deo kompleksa na kome je
živeo, a kasnije i sahranjen,
Josip Broz Tito, velika svet-
ska figura 20. veka.
Dvadeset tri muzejske
zbirke sa oko dvesta hiljada
eksponata – reprezentativni
presek materijalne i duhov-
ne kulture Jugoslavije, ze-
mlje koja je u jednom veku
nastala i nestala sa mape
sveta – jednu od najmlađih
ustanova kulture od nacio-
nalnog značaja u Srbiji čine
i jednom od najuticajnijih
institucija te vrste.
Više od sto hiljada turi-
sta, od kojih je polovina iz
inostranstva – najviše pose-
tilaca je iz Slovenije, SAD
(gotovo 30 hiljada), Japana,
Kine, Italije – poseti godi-
šnje ovaj muzejski kompleks
koji sačinjavaju Kuća cveća,
Stari muzej i Muzej 25. maj.

ZGRADA ZA POKLONE
Zgrada Muzeja „25. maj“, inicijalno je sa-
građena kao prostor namenjen za izlaganje
i čuvanje ogromnog broja poklona koje je
Tito dobijao, a radilo se o više stotina hiljada
predmeta. Danas Muzej 25. maj služi kao va-
žan izložbeni prostor Beograda na kome se
smenjuju zanimljivi programi vezani za poli-
tičke, društvene i kulturne fenomene 20. i 21.
veka, proistekle iz istorije Jugoslavije.

A BUILDING FOR PRESENTS
The „25
th
May“ Museum building was originally
created as a space intended for showcasing and
preserving the hundreds of thousands of presents
Tito received. Today the museum serves as an im-
portant exhibition space in Belgrade, with a rota-
tion of interesting programmes related to political,
social and cultural phenomena of the 20
th
and 21
st
centuries, arising from Yugoslav history..

The Museum of Yugoslav
History is located in Dedinje,
a high-class Belgrade suburb
that’s graced with perhaps the
most beautiful panoramic view
of the city and surrounded by
lush plantlife with cascading
paths and spacious plateaus.
This magnificent location
wasn’t chosen by accident,
because the museum is part of a
complex where Josip Broz Tito,
a great figure of the 20
th
century,
lived and was later buried.
Twenty-three museum
collections comprising around
200,000 showpieces – a repre-
sentative sample of the material
and spiritual culture of Yugosla-
via, a country that was born and
died in the span of a century
– ensure that one of Serbia’s
youngest cultural institutions
of ‘national importance’ is also
one of its most important.
Each year more than a
100,000 tourists, half of whom
come from abroad - with the
most visitors coming from Slo-
venia, the U.S. (nearly 30,000),
