56 | / The trailer for the feature lm Dumbo, a remake of the famous animated lm about the baby elephant able to y, promises that the lm will be very emotional, just aswas the casewith the cartoon version. This live action version is a little di erent than the original, but certainly still contains those unforgettablemoments that marked the animated lm – like the magical feather, or the scene in which a sad Dumbo visits his mother in front of her cage and she strokes him with her trunk. Interestingly, having been released in 1941, Dumbo is one of the oldest Disney classics. It was in fact the fourth such classic, having been preceded by Snow White, Pinocchio and Fantasia. It is a great surprise that, when directed by Tim Burton, the lm about the ying baby elephant isn’t some Lovecraft nightmare, but rather awonderful andwarmstory, while there’s no surprise that oneof the roleswas given toDanny DeVito, who plays the circus owner and sports a hugehat. Critics even jokedat his expense, commenting that DeVito certainly already had that kind of hat at home, kept in a glass box reading ‘Break in case of Burton’. The new Dumbo, which had its world premiere on 29th March and arrives in our cinemas only ve days later, will also delight all fans of ColinFarrell, who looks completelynormal in the lm and, of course, is still a great looking guy. Burton tells the story of the circus owner (Danny DeVito), who hires former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children to care of a newborn elephan,t whose huge earsmake himanobject of ridicule at the circus, which is already struggling to survive. But when they discover that Dumbo can y, the circus’s popularity returns, attracting entrepreneur V. A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton). Dumbo will soar to new heights together with charming and spectacular trapeze artist Colette Merchant (Eva Green), until Holt discovers that dark secrets are hidden beneath the canvas of the circus’s big top… That’s because this is a Burton lm, so there must be at least a little dark drama, which is exactly what we all hope for. This famous director is the reason why Eva Green agreed to star in the lm, and had to overcome her fear of heights to do so… “It was very gruelling, but worth the e ort, primarilydue toTimBarton. That’sbecauseDumbo is averyBurtonesque lm– it encourages you toaccept youruniqueness, your individuality. You don’t have to be perfect to be loved. Burton is a poetwhoalways brings aunique vision, andhe’s perfect for this lm project, because no one understands people who do not t in, or vulnerable souls like Dumbo, better than him. Likewise, this lm also tells children to believe in themselves. If you believe in yourself, you can overcomeeveryobstacle, andthat’salreadycompletely Disneyesque. Dakle, sjajna kombinacija. Burton is perfect for this lm project, because no one understands people who do not t in, or vulnerable souls like Dumbo, better than him, says actress Eva Green Barton je savršen za ovaj film jer niko ne razume ljude koji se ne uklapaju niti ranjive duše poput Dambove bolje od njega, kaže glumica Eva Grin
