Interview » Intervju | 47 ated, where people can see where we’ve “wandered” and perhaps also find their owndesire tomovemore. A tent on the car roof was awin-win solution. We spend thewhole day in nature and in the evenings choose a place to camp that we want to see when we wake up.” While we’re on the subject of Serbia, where is it at its most beautiful, apart from at home? “The two of us decided, after years exploring the nature of our beautiful country, to buy a plot of land and embark on the adventure of returning to old crafts, permaculture, exploringnatureaswebuildour own oasis in eastern Serbia.” Let’s nonetheless return to the topic of acting... Do you have any desire to act in the theatre? “No, unfortunately. I don’t have picturetaken, giving interviews, donning gowns and the like.” You’ve conquered the poles, the world’s highest peaks etc. How do you manage to persevere and push your limits in extreme situations? “In such a way that I hacked myself by choosing situations that there’s no turning back from once you’ve started; situations in which givingup isn’t a cheapoption. When I was on an expedition in the Arctic, the aim was to cover 300 km on a dog sleigh. We only had the possibility of giving up after the first day, whichwaschallenging ineverysense. I was among those who decided to continue and I can now say that I’m rich, because that has only been experiencedby 186peopleworldwide. In extreme situations, a person can learn a lot in a short space of time, and can grow from that.” Have you ever thought ‘I won’t succeed’? “Every time I’ve thought, “Jeepers, what did I need to do this for?!”. After reaching the summit ofMount Kilimanjaro (5,895metres above sea level), I said to myself that I’d never even climb to the topof Avala again, only tospendthreeweeksof thevery next year climbing in the Himalayas. It seems tome that the hardest part is deciding to embark on an adventure. And afterwards everything sort of fits into place for a person to upgrade themselves and endure the challenge they’veset for themselves.” You recently embarked on an adventure around Serbia with your daughter and dog. Is it really that easy to pack a tent and head out? “In a systemwhere you are a hero if you successfully conduct your daily routine, I needed for Luča and I, together with our dogs, to have that freedomto once aweek unburdenourselves fromvarious assigned tasks, to pack a backpack without having to organise everything perfectly in advance and spend extra energy on it. Nekako mi čitanje ovog časopisa dođe kao ritualni uvod u putovanje. I ćerka i ja najviše volimo da, leteći, stignemo nekud. ALWAYS AIR SERBIA AND ELEVATE How do you most often spend your time aboard Air Serbia’s planes? “This will now sound “cheesy”, but really the first thing I do aboard a plane – and I most often travel with my favourite Air Serbia – is to “grab” Elevate. Reading this magazine somehow comes as my ritual introduction to my travels. My daughter and I both prefer arriving somewhere by flying.” the budget to deal with that scene. I performed intensively in the theatre prior to giving birth to my child. I thenreducedthat andfinallydecided it didn’t pay off to give halfmy earnings to a nanny in order not to be withmy child. I didn’t see the point of that. I’ve organisedmy life and affairs in such a way that I can devote myself to my daughter maximally.” Do you dream about Hollywood, some world-renowned director, some specific role? “I dream about high-quality people, visionaries and joint creation wherever that might be.” It was a decade ago that you won the Golden Arena award for Best Actress for your performance in the filmThe Parade. Was that role a kind of springboard? “It’s somehow like they knew in Pula which two films I had absolute enjoyment filming and they awardedmeGoldenArena awards for both of them. Those twofilms areThe Parade andTheLast Serb inCroatia, directed by Predrag Ličina, which you can watch on HBO.” Who taught you the most about acting or gave you advice that you always remember? “I learned the most about acting from Tomaž Pandur. A great director. He revealed my own capacities to me. Dejan Mijač once said tome, while we weremaking a play, “act theway you like to see someone else act”. And my mother advised me that I just listen to my feelings.” You rarely give interviews, don’t appear in tabloids and don’t live constantly in the public eye. How much does that help or hinder you when it comes to getting roles? “It’s important tome inmywork that someone chooses me because ofmyquality, andnot becauseofmy appearances in themediaor because I have a large number of followers on social media. It’s certainly easier when you’re on everyone’s “radar”, but that’s not my way.” O glumi sam najviše naučila od Tomaža Pandura.
