U Kraljevu se priprema toplo predjelo od šljiva sa slaninom, a u Blacu gulaš za suvim šljivama. Ali ma koliko hranila narod ovog kraja od pamtiveka, šljiva je ipak najpre završavala u kazanu. Šljivovica je rakija kojom se u Srbiji nazdravlja, uz nju se smeje, plače, veseli, tuguje. Svako seosko domaćinstvo odvajkada je ostavljalo šljivovicu za specijalne prilike. Ona je nezaobilazni gost, zapravo domaćin, svakog srpskog slavlja. Služi se iz malih čaša, čokančića, a iz zemlje prebogate šljivom ne smete otići a da niste popili makar malo dobre domaće prepečenice. Tradicionalni brend svih brendova je i poznati šumadijski čaj. Evo kako da ga pripremite. Potrebno vam je četiri kašike šećera, 250ml meke rakije i 100ml vode. U metalnu šerpicu ili džezvu stavite šećer da se karamelizuje. Every rural household has always set aside šljivovica for special occasions. It is an indispensable guest, or actually a host, of every Serbian celebration. It is served in shot glasses or small čokanjčića bottles, and you simply mustn’t leave this plum-rich country without having at least tried a little of this good, homemade tipple. The traditional brand of all brands is the famous Šumadija tea. Here‘s how to prepare it. You need four tablespoons of sugar, 250ml of weak brandy and 100ml of water. Place the sugar in a metal pan or traditional coffee pot to caramelise, then remove from the heat and immediately add the rakija and water.
