Morski i planinski vazduh semešaju čineći ovomesto oazomzdravlja i duševnogmira. I zato Jadran. Ne treba propustiti girice i vino, Manastir Savinu, a treba se kupati na Žanjicama i popeti na naše prelepe tvrđave sa kojih se vidi grad. se l e ktor Crne Gor e , Mont enegro t eam coach Foreverwith jadran He began his playing career at the tender age of ten and has spent his whole life inwater polo, together with his Jadran. He says that hewas fortunate when the clubwas joined in 1997 by Petar Porobić, who later coached the Serbia andMontenegro national team andwas one of themost important personalities in his career. And then came the Yugoslav national team that was perhaps the best teamof all time… “From2001 until the separating of the states, that teamwas without rival. They were all theworld’s best players by the time I came to Belgrade. Šapić, Vujasinović, Ikodinović, Savić, Ćirić … You find yourself among such greats, you keep silent and nod your headwhen they ask you something, until they come to love you. It was a privilege to be in their company. When they invite you for coffee or to go out in the city and you’re not feeling up to it, you go anyway out of happiness.” You’ve remained friends to this day… “We’ve all remained in very good relations. I’mvery close to Šapić, but Savić is a special story. We played together for the national team, then later for Kazan, and nowwe’re both national Ostao je ceo život u vaterpolu, uz svoj Jadran He has spent his whole life in water polo, together with his Jadran V l ad imi r Goj kov i ć teamcoaches. Of all the people I know who aren’t my godparents or brothers, there’s nomanwho lovesmemore than he does. Wemeet up after each encounter in the pool, go out, evokememories. He is perhapsmy best friend from theworld of water polo, and he has done a lot for me.” You had a short stint in Russia, but decided to return home. Why Jadran? “This ismy house; I spent more time at the Škver thanwithmy parents. I remained attached to the club andwas attracted to the coaching job. I’ve been Montenegro coach since 2016, but I still work with the coaches at Jadan. I’m there every day, except whenwe’re preparing, and bothmy sons playwater polo. I was born in a village above HercegNovi andmy heart is in this city. The people here arewarm, hospitable, life flows at a leisurely pace. The distance from the sea to the snow is 35 kilometres, and that’s a rare privilege. The air of the sea and themountains combine tomake this place an oasis of health and spiritual peace. And that's why Jadran”. What are the “musts” in HercegNovi? “One tour should cover the surrounding countryside, old stone rural houses that have preserved theway of life from some bygone times. The Škver is obligatory, with Jadran and the heart of HercegNovi there. I’ve travelled theworld a lot, but the trophy hall of the club is something that almost no one else has anything like, andmatches by the sea are a special experience. You shouldn’t miss thewhitebait andwine, Savina Monastery, and you should bathe at Žanjice and clamber up to the top of our beautiful fortresses that offer views of the city”.
