The House of Flowers was built in 1975, based on the design of Stjepan Kralj. This building comprises three parts: a winter garden in the central section and two exhibition spaces, while a terrace providing views over Belgrade is located opposite the entrance. It was according to Tito’s own wishes that his mortal remains were interred here on 8th May, 1980, and the House of Flowers has been open to visitors since 1982. The Old Museum, built in 1965 and designed by architect Branko Bon, is one of the three units of the museum complex. It is specific in that its look is reminiscent of a storage depot, which was actually its primary function. The space is currently presenting the exhibition Museum Laboratory, which reflects work on the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Yugoslavia. Starting from the museum collection, as the chief source for researching social phenomena and historical junctures that are important to developing an understanding of the experience of life in Yugoslavia, this exhibition re-examines Yugoslav heritage and the institution of the Museum itself. The permanent exhibition changes continuously and is upgraded through interventions by the curators of the Museum of Yugoslavia, who invite relevant experts, artists and other collaborators, and who work jointly to consider and exchange ideas on Yugoslav heritage. The Sculpture Park contains 20 sculptures that are works of prominent Yugoslav artists. These stylistic and thematic sculptures are extremely varied, ranging from lyrical works that reflect realism and intimacy, to classic sculptures of socialist realism. Visitors opting to tour the museum complex are awaited by a unique visual experience that will encourage them to view this characteristic period of history in a new way, as well as allowing them to summarise their impressions in the garden of the museum café. The museum25th May first opened its doors on 25th May, 1962, representing a birthday gift from the City of Belgrade to the then President of the Republic, Marshal Josip Broz Tito, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The building housing the museum, which was designed in 1961 by famous Belgrade architect Mihailo Mika Janković, represents a gem of modernist architecture. A rare example of total design in Belgrade, the core activity of this purpose-built museum has never changed. Work on decorating the exterior façade, parts of the interior and the museum’s exhibits was entrusted to various artists, such as Boško Karanović, author of the mosaic on the front façade, Raoul Goldoni, author of the interior wall painting, Emil Vićić and Vladeta Petrić. Over the course of the many years of its existence, this building has hosted numerous exhibitions and meetings U sastavuMuzeja Jugoslavije danas se nalaze objekti Muzej „25. maj“, Kuća cveća, Stari muzej, Park skulptura, muzejski kafe i suvenirnica K25 / The composition of theMuseumof Yugoslavia today includes the facilities of 25th MayMuseum, the House of Flowers, theOldMuseumand Sculpture Park, as well as amuseum cafe and the K25 souvenir shop
