Etnografski muzej Logičan put svakog turiste od Trga republike je Knez Mihailovomulicom, kaKalemegdanu, kao još jednomod čvorišta života prestonice. Spustite li se samo jednu ulicu niže, ka Dorćolu, naići ćete na Etnografski muzej. Ni ta zgrada na uglu Studentskog trga 13 i UzunMirkove 2 nije građena (1933/34) namenski, već kao sedište Beogradske berze. To zdanje, proglašeno spomenikom kulture 1984. godine, odlikuje semodernističkimkonceptom, dok su visoki stubovi na ulazu rezultat uticaja nemačke arhitekture. U fondu Etnografskog muzeja čuvaju se artefakti iz tradicionalne narodne kulture. Ovi predmeti za svakodnevnu upotrebu, nošnje, knjige, fotografije, dela likovne umetnosti, oslikavaju društvene odnose, porodični život, običaje, verovanja, znanje i narodno stvaralaštvo Srba i drugih naroda na tlu Srbije. Nekomsa strane biće najzanimljivije da vidi kako su naši preci slavili Božić, Uskrs i porodičnu slavu, kao i kako se različitim povodima narod sabirao ispred crkava i manastira. Do sredine decembra u toku je izložba „Lepa kuća“ u galeriji u sastavu Muzeja. – Gradeći kuće koje će ih nadživeti, domaćini su u njih utkali narativ o svojoj porodici, komunicirajući sa zajednicompreko njene spoljašnosti. Zato je kuća morala da bude lepa, kao što su odnosi među ljudima morali da budu harmonični – kaže Miloš Matić, muzejski savetnik i autor postavke. These objects, which include everyday items, costumes, books, photographs andworksoffineart, serve to illustrate social relations, family life, customs, beliefs, knowledge and the national creativity of Serbs and other peoples on the territory of Serbia. The most interesting elements for outsiders tosee relate to theways our ancestors celebratedChristmas, Easter and family saints’ day celebrations, aswell ashowthepeoplegathered infrontof churches andmonasteries on various occasions. The current exhibition, which runs until mid-December, is called A Beautiful House and is on display in the Gallery of the Museum. “By building houses that would outlive them, the ownersweaved the narrativeof their family intothosehomes, communicatingwith the community throughtheexteriordesign.That’s why the houses had to be beautiful, just as relationships betweenpeople had to be harmonious,” says exhibition author Miloš Matić.
