All of themwere first presented to the world at the greatest show on Earth: TheWorld Exhibition ConnectingMinds, Creating the Future The firstWorld’s Fair took place in 1851 and has since gone on to be celebrated as the event atwhichmany ofmodernhumanity’s greatest achievements have been presented to a global audience for the first time. Technologies and inventions – such as the telephone, the first computer or Tesla’s city lighting based on the A/C system – were all first presented to the global public at World’s Fair events. Even culturally EXPO / EXPO important buildings, like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Statue of Liberty in New York and the Atomium in Brussels, were erected under the scope of World Expos. The history of the World’s Fair, or World Expo, thus also represents the history of the development of human thought and progress. Expo 2020 Dubai will be held from 1st October 2021 until 31st March 2022, under the slogan “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. Originally scheduled to take place over 2020 and 2021, it was rescheduled due to the pandemic, but retained its original Expo 2020 title. This will be the first time a World Expo has been staged in the Middle East, and more than 190 countries have so far confirmed their participation. Serbia first participated in the World Expo in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1885, with the then Kingdom of Serbia remarkably winning 157 awards. And the country has been proudly presenting its traditions, achievements, culture and economy at World Exhibitions ever since. Serbia will again be participating at World Expo Dubai, under the heading “SERBIA CREATES IDEAS - Inspired by the past, shaping the future”.
