DA SE NE Z ABOR AV I L E ST WE F ORG E T Dobili smoNirvanu, Davida i Poaroa, ostali bezDžejmsa Dina / We gained Nirvana, David andPoirot, and lost JamesDean Istorija je puna genijalnih ljudi, nezaboravnih događaja, momenata koji su zauvek promenili svet u kojem živimo… Nemoguće je nabrojati sve važne stvari koje su desile u septembru, ovo su samo neke od njih… History is filled with geniuses, unforgettable events, moments that changed the world in which we live forever… It would be impossible to list every important happening that's taken place in September, but here we present a few of them… Svet je ugledao Davida Jedno od najomiljenijih svetskih umetničkih dela, David, mermerno remek-delo Mikelanđela Buonarotija visoko pet metara, a teško 5,5 tona, predstavljeno je javnosti u Firenci, na italijanskoj Piazza della Signoria. Isklesana od jednog bloka belog italijanskog mermera iz Karare koji su drugi umetnici odbacili zbog nedostataka, masivna statua prikazuje golog Davida, biblijskog heroja koji je prackom ubio džinovskog Golijata. Odbor, u kojem su bili i Leonardo da Vinči i Sandro Botičeli, odlučio je da se statua postavi na javnu lokaciju, na trgu. Trebalo je 40 muškaraca i četiri dana da se masivna statua pomeri samo 800 metara. Godine 1873. David je premešten u zatvorenu prostoriju u Galleria dell’Accademia kako bi ga zaštitili od oštecenja. Replika i danas stoji na svom starommestu na trgu. MICHELANGELO’S DAVID UNVEILED TO THE PUBLIC One of theworld’smost beloved artworks, David, the 5.17-metre-tall, more than six-tonmarblemasterpiece sculpted byMichelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, known simply asMichelangelo, was revealed to the public on Florence’s Piazza della Signoria. Carved from a single block of white Italian Carraramarble that had been rejected by other artists for being flawed, themassive statue depicts a nude David, the Biblical herowho used a slingshot to slay the giant Goliath. Upon its unveiling to theCathedral Vestry Board, a committee –whose members included Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli – decided that the statue should be placed in amore public location. Once it had been decided that it would reside in the piazza, it took a reported 40men four days tomove themassive statue less than a kilometre. In 1873, after almost 400 years, Davidwasmoved indoors, to theGalleria dell’Accademia, in order to protect it from damage. A replica remains in its place on the piazza.
