Grad koji karakteriše bogato nasleđe antičke i hrišćanske arhitekture izgradio je imperator Justinijan Prvi u JUSTINIANAPRIMA The city of Justiniana Prima lies on the gentle slopes that stretch from the mountain of Radan to the Leskovac high valley, in a place that’s not on themain transport routes. The fortified city covers a length of over 500metres, while the urban core consisted of the Acropolis and Upper and the Lower towns, which are connected by awide substructure andmonuments in the nearer and further surroundings. This imperial city represents an exceptional monument to ancient urbanism and architecture. The remains of basilicas and aqueducts, as well as streets with colonnades, make the Roman city of Justiniana Prima one of themost interesting ancient sites in the Balkans. The city itself, which is characterised by a rich heritage of antique andChristian architecture, was built by Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century. This spot is an ideal place to end the story of the Roman emperors, because it is both the southernmost and the last landmark to be constructed in the periodwhen the Romans ruled these lands. I, who originated in the area today occupied by the south of Serbia, decided to build the city that would glorify his name in his homeland 6. veku.
