R I TAM SRBI JE / RHYTHM OF SERBIA 78 | Rimski tragovi » Tracks of Rome Naisus Medijana Medijana, nekada raskošno predgrađe antičkog grada Naisusa, izgrađena je za vreme vladavine Konstantina Velikog kao rezidencija u kojoj su odsedali kraljevi prilikom poseta ovom gradu. Do danas je otkriveno oko 80 građevina antičke Medijane, koju najviše krase bogati i dobro očuvani mozaici. Najveće privatne rimske terme na teritoriji Srbije, koje se prostiru na površini većoj od 1.200 kvadratnih metara, otkrivene su na prostoru arheološkog parka Medijana. Monumentalno antičko kupatilo sagrađeno je u 4. veku nove ere, imalo je bazene sa toplom i hladnom vodom, podno grejanje, mozaike, freske i skulpture, a hodnikom je bilo povezano sa luksuznom vilom sa peristilom na ovom lokalitetu, poznatojom kao Konstantinova vila, zbog čega arheolozi pretpostavljaju da su i terme pripadale nikome drugom do rimskom imperatoru Konstantinu Velikom i njegovim naslednicima. Posetioci mogu da vide i kako je izgledala letnja rezidencija cara Konstantina iz 4. veka, u kakvim podnimmozaicima su uživali rimski imperator i njegova svita, kakvo je bilo podno grejanje. NAISSUSMEDIANA Mediana was once a luxurious suburb of the ancient city of Naissus, which was constructed during the reign of Constantine the Great as a residence where kings would stay during visits to the city. Around eighty buildings of ancient Mediana have been discovered to date, most of which are adorned with rich and well-preserved mosaics. The largest private Roman baths on the territory of Serbia, covering an area of more than 1,200 square metres, were uncovered on the territory of the Mediana Archaeological Park. The monumental ancient bathhouse, which was built in the 4th century AD, had bathing pools with hot and cold water, underfloor heating, mosaics, frescoes and sculptures, while a hallway connected it to a luxury villa with peristyle columns on this site, known as Constantine’s Villa, which is why archaeologists presume that the baths belonged to none other than Roman emperor Constantine the Great and his successors. Visitors can also see what Emperor Constantine’s 4th century summer residence looked like, what kind of floor mosaics were enjoyed by this Roman emperor and his retinue, what the underfloor heating was like. ...
