20 | JAN FABR U NARODNOMMUZEJU JANFABREATTHENATIONALMUSEUM PRAZNIK MALIH PRIJATELJA UNarodnommuzejuuBeogradu je do 5. aprila otvorena izložba multimedijalnog umetnika Jana Fabra Praznik malih prijatelja. Fabrovo gostovanje u Beogradu 2020. godine objedinjeno je otvaranjemizložbeuNarodnommuzeju u Beogradu, izvođenjem monodrame Noćni pisac uNarodnompozorištu i objavljivanjemprevodaFabrove treće knjige Noćni dnevnik 1992–1993. Kulturnog centra Beograda. Slično entomologu, Fabr zapravo beleži, analizira i komentariše ljudske aktivnosti i emocije kroz seriju crteža, instalacija i skulptura fantastičnihinsekata. TheNational Museum in Belgrade is hosting an exhibition of multimedia artist Jan Fabre, entitledFeast of Little Friends, until 5th April. Fabre’s 2020 guest appearance inBelgradehas beenuni ed through the opening of the exhibition at the National Museum in Belgrade, the performance of themono-dramaThe NightWriter at theNational Theatre and the publishingof aSerbiantranslation of Fabre’s third book, The Night Journal 1992-1993, by the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. The Feast of Little Friends exhibition at the National Museum, which is curated by Joanna De Vos, deals with topics that fascinated Fabre as a young visual artist. While studying the world of spiders and insects, hebegan creating his own mythical universe centred around life and death, beauty and horror, fragility and violence, mortality and eternity - extremes that also hold an important place in Fabre’s theatrical art. The Feast of Little Friends is key to understanding not only Fabre’s contemporary visual creativity, but also his theatrical and literary oeuvre. Similarly to an entomologist, Fabre actually records, analyses and comments on human activities and emotions through a series of drawings, installations and sculptures of “fantastic insects”. Withhis largeSpidersHeadsTheatrewith real spiders, he simulates the theatre of life, but doesn’t recordwhat he sees among his“little friends”, rather he seekswithin himself images that emerge, leaving the same possibility for the viewer. The imagination remains themainmedium.TheFeast of Little Friends becomes a“feast of the senses”, while the metamorphosis of insects becomes a symbol of human existence.
