If you choose to continue on towards Ada, an elite atmosphere is also provided by the Belgrade Waterfront neighbourhood. The only problem with this route will be choosing the right café to sit and enjoy the multitude of delightful worlds. Bursting with positive impressions, you can cool off and conclude your tour at AdaCiganlija’s Sava Lake, because this urban resort’s bathing season starts inmid-June. On the side of Ada Ciganlija island facing the Sava, the route stretches across the water to New Belgrade, with taxi boats departing from the Staro kupalište [Old bathing area]. If Branko’s Bridge marked the junction to turn towards Zemun, it also provides the same opportunity for those wishing to check out Great War Island, a nature reserve that’s home to 196 species of bird. It’s still too early for swimming at Lido, the landscaped beach area of this river island, because the Danube remains fast-flowing and bloated, and still cold, but sunbathing is highly recommended, as is a walk along the dirt lanes that traverse this area of the densest biodiversity in the capital. It is also possible to tour this entire route using a rented bicycle, in which case you can take a break on the part of the riverbank in front of the Museum of ContemporaryArt, amasterpiece of IvankaRaspopović and the aforementioned Ivan Antić, and take in views of the old part of the city, but also thebeautiful, newBelgradeWaterfront neighbourhood that we’ve maximum, with longvermilionskies in themornings and evenings, making this city on two rivers romantic and irresistibly alluring. If your starting point to tour the city is Knez Mihailova Street, which is both a pedestrianwalkway and a guardian of tradition, head in the direction of the Danube. Descending the slope will lead you to Dorćol, the city’s oldest urban hub, a hugely important monument to history and culture and a witness to the city’s turbulent history. It is embraced on all sides by the great river, and June is the right time to experience that river in all its beauty. As soon as you reach the riverbank, you’ll be approached by a flock of swans that have grown accustomed to eating out of the hands of kindlypassers-by.Thepromenade passes tennis courts, but also the swimming pool of the Milan Gale Muškatirović Sports Centre, where you can find relief from the heat. If your heart and feet won’t let you rest, the next scene worthy of a mention is Beton Hala [Concrete Hall], which is also known as a centre of fun for the city’s elite. Here you can grab a bite to eat from the international menus of the many restaurants while enjoying views of the Sava dock international passenger terminal. Alternatively, continue onwards to Branko’s Bridge, where you’ll be awaited by a newdilemma: to head towards Zemun or take the road toAdaCiganlija. Insteadof taking the route alongDorćol’sDanube quayside, you can also reach this spot via Kalemegdan, which is rich with greenery in June, or by skirting the periphery of this park and then traversing the neighbourhood of Kosančić Wreath, with its harmonious ambience.
