We enjoyed the 49th edition of Belgrade Fashion Week, which showed that our city canstandsideby sidewithworld metropolises. As fashionstudioKlik hasaccustomedus toexpect, theprogrammewas varied, educational and socially responsible. And the actual fashion shows were a story in their own right. We saw what our local fashion scene’s famous figures have to tell us and the considerations of the new generations who are just entering the fashion world. Running through everything we saw – regardless of whether from unique or mass production collections – is the idea that there’s no more blindly following trends, that the individual is at the centre of attention and that the designs serve to help visually emphasise the essence of the wearer. The colour palettewas stronger, as expected in all collections intendedforwarmerdays, whileprintswere also represented and cobalt blue, alongsidewhite, definitelydominated throughout thewhole of fashion week. When it comes to cuts, they proved to bemore imaginative than we’re used to, fromdraped, twisted andflippedpartswhere you least expect them, with silhouettes that celebrate femininity but do sowithout stressing the emphasising of thefigure. Comfortable forms are present inall pieces, butmore in the senseof layering, three-dimensionality and draping than the oversized cuts that dominated in spring. 49t h B e lgr ade fash i on we e k Fromdeconstruction to science fiction In Belgrade we’ve seen everything you could possibly want: frommen’s suits in lollypop colours to dresses inspired by science fiction and river sprites Inspiration is also a story in its own right, from artworks, via water sprites and science fiction, to the old crafts or our cultural heritage. Everything was bursting with designs thatmake feelings of comfort, freedomand enjoyment an imperative. A different approach has been running through fashion for the last few years, one without strict determining factors and with more suggestions, andmostlybasedonfollowing the spirit of themodernwoman, her sensibilities and needs. However, every fashionweek–regardlessof howmany different creative stories are presented – is expected to concludewiththeextractingof themain determining factors and guidelines, and for everything that’s been seen to be somehow divided into some categories popularly dubbed trends. The first andmost important is that themajorityof pieceshavebeen created in the spirit of sustainability and themodern lifestyle, so they are wearable on different occasions and even during different seasons, with a small change in details. And that’s just what the modern woman needs: to be able to leave work, grab some chunky itemof jewellery, tulle scarf, belt orwhatever fromher purse and head straight to a cocktail party. Proving to be absolutely dominant were flared trousers, dungarees, dresseswith interesting cuts in all lengths, frommaxi to mini, puff sleeves, layering, crop tops replaced by crop jackets, details in unexpectedplaces, andpockets as a vague association with the safari style, but with a modern twist. Većina modela kreirana je u duhu održivosti i savremenog načina života i različitim prilikama the majority of pieces have been created in the spirit of sustainability and the modern lifestyle
