All the glory of art nouveau It isn’t only an always carefully conceived, European-focused film programme that ensures Palić Film Festival ranks among the most attractive film events, but rather also the fact that it is held at some of the most beautiful locations anywhere in Vojvodina and throughout Serbia. Subotica is known as an art nouveau city, with this artistic direction reflected primarily in the high art of the city’s architecture. The city centre is home to the most beautiful Vienna Secession-inspiredart nouveaubuildings, so festivalgoers can also tour Subotica’smost representative edifices: theCityHall, Synagogue, Reichl Palace, the Putnik building and others. Tour guides often also devise special “Routes of Art Nouveau” tours that exclusively visit buildings representing this style. Palić Lake and catamaran cruise Palić Lake, occupying the central spot of the festival site, is among Vojvodina’smost outstanding areas of natural beauty. Togetherwith the landscaped walkways surrounding it, this lake represents the perfect spot for strolling and relaxing during the day, prior to the start of the evening’spremierefilmprogramme. Catamaran rides are among the most popular day-trip activities. Lasting 45 minutes, they provide the possibility to cruise the entire lake.
