BELACRKVA LAKES The road leading to the lakes of Bela Crkva is straight out of a fairy tale. After passing the Deliblato Sands and checking out the authentic villages of Vojvodina, you approach the Danube and the border with Romania, and right there you are awaited by the seven Bela Crkva lakes. Themost urban is the large City Lake, which is surrounded by promenades, beaches and a small wood. Gravel Pit Lake is the largest lake and is known for its wide beach that’s equippedwith showers and deck chairs. Vračev Gaj Lake has a campsite, while guests have at their disposal a restaurant and cafe bar on the lake shore. The beach is expectedly gravel covered and is equippedwith deck chairs and umbrellas. WHAT TOVISIT You can easily cross the Danube to RamFortress by ferry and be in neighbouring Romania in just a fewminutes. Then, accompanied by a guide, you can take a fairytale walking tour back to Serbia, following the course of the crystal clear Nera. ZAOVINE LAKE Surrounded by a coniferous forest, Tara Mountain’s Zaovine Lake is located at 900metres above sea level. Locals recommend that the best option for swimming is the part of the lake near the Lazići Dam. The beach is not landscaped and its size depends on the current level of the lake. Slightly lower on the mountain is the smaller Lake Spajići, which has a small beach but also water that’s much colder, as is the case with the next small lake, Lipovica, which will leave you speechless with its beauty. If you want to enjoy pristine nature, you are in the right place. The water from the lake is extremely clean and is used for raising trout. WHAT TO VISIT Immediately beside the dam is the place where Josif Pančić first found his Serbian spruce.
