Ako i vaš put vodi u Rim, zavirite u njihove palate. Ovog puta predstavljamo vam tri izuzetna ambijenta i njihove raskošne kolekcije. These are today spaces of the highest historical and artistic signi cance that were once centres of power and representation. In the Rome of the 17th century, art ourished in the service of counter-reformation andprestige, and in uential, mostly aristocratic families occupiedand fought mercilessly for papal and cardinal positions. It was on such a dramatic canvas that these fascinating palaces and villas emerged, along with their splendid collections that still teach us about the history of art today. Barberini, Corsini, Farnese, Colonna, Borghese, Mattei, Doria. These are the powerful families who shaped the Rome of the 17th century and played their own kind of game of thrones. If your travels also lead you to Rome, be sure to peek into their palaces. This time we present to you three exceptional ambients and their luxurious collections. Vrhunac predstavljaju dve izuzetne skulptoralne grupe Đan Lorenca Berninija, najveće zvezde rimskog baroka: Otmica Prozerpine i Apolon i Dafne. GALLERIA BORGHESE The Borghese Gallery & Museum is located in the fantastic atmosphere of the gardens of the former Villa Borghese Pinciana, once the 17th century estate of Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The cardinal was the nephew of Pope Paul V and owes a lot to the practises of nepotism. As a passionate collector and patron of Bernini and Caravaggio, the cardinal formedanextraordinary collection, which, complemented by the descendants of the Borghese family, is now exhibited in this gallery’s 20 rooms. Thehighlight of the collection is represented by two outstanding sculptural groupsofGianLorenzoBernini, thegreatest star of Rome’s baroque: the Rape of Proserpine and Apollo and Daphne. We know the works of the mature Bernini thanks to St. Peter’s Square and several edi ces that de ned the recognisable physiognomyofBaroqueRome.TheRape of Proserpine, a255cm-tall sculpture, was executed by this talented artist when he was only 22 (1622). Bernini’s chisel and passion rendered the marble’s appearance as soft as skin, while making the gods resemblepeopleof eshandblood.
