Belgrade » Beograd | 61 If you welcomed 2022 in Belgrade, you certainly experienced a celebration that outdid those of many larger world capitals. Regardless of whether the stroke of midnight found you at the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park, in the BanovoBrdoneighbourhood or on the Sava Promenada, the spectacle marking the city’s entry into the new year, staged from Kula Belgrade, was an event that will long be recounted with the same kind of admiring appreciation that it received in world media reports. The magical fireworks show, to the accompaniment of music inspired by local heritage, proved themost beautiful way to show the world what Belgraders and guests of the Serbian capital already know: that Belgrade Waterfront, the new urban neighbourhood on the right bank of the Sava, combinesmodern technology with local tradition, an international spirit with Belgrade’s famous charm, thedynamismof the city’s urbanpulsewith the tranquillity of the river and lush greenery. Adding to the spectaclewas the Kula Belgrade itself, the “crown” of the Belgrade Waterfront complex, which stands out not only due to its height of 168 metres and the innovative construction solutions applied, but also due to its impressive silhouette, which represents an homage to the city over which it towers. Specifically, Kula Belgrade’s twisting “curved” shape is inspired by one of the city’s greatest natural jewels: Ušće, the confluence of the rivers Sava andDanube. Hidden behind its attractive glass façade is the equally attractive interior of a hotel and branded St. Regis apartments, straight from the portfolio of the famousMarriott International hotel and residential chain. The first guests and residents will realise their Belgrade fairy-tale as early as this year, which is also when a viewing platformwill open at the very top of Kula Belgrade. From here, locals and guests will rediscover Belgrade fromanentirelynew perspective. Until then, guaranteed enjoyment of the view is provided for those indulging in the traditional drinking of coffee on the Sava Promenada or the local and international specialities of the restaurants of Galerija, the region’s largest shopping, gastronomic and entertainment destination, which is located on the very bank of the river.
