Venice City hidden under masks Venice becomes a city of masks, colours and good moods during carnival time. During those 20 days, residents and numerous tourists enjoy masked balls, just like those of medieval Venice, when everything was permitted, except taking o your mask to reveal your identity. That will be the case again this year from 16th February to 5th March, with the greatest euphoria evident during the nal weekend of the carnival, when the best and most original masks are selected. Bucharest First private art museum Romania recently received its first private art museum after 80 years in the form of “MARe” (The Museum of Recent Art). With a permanent exhibition featuring Romanian artworks from the 1960s to the present, it also stages temporary exhibitions of the works of foreign artists. In an exhibition space covering around 1,200 square metres, visitors can check out more than 150 works that show, in a unique way, the challenges faced by Romanian artists during the period of the communist regime and after its collapse. The black brick and facade of the museum serve to remind of the totalitarian regime that the country was under.
