The town is known as a fashionable Italian ski resort that hosts world skiing competitions every winter, while it proved particularly attractive to winter sports lovers during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. This is one of the oldest ski resorts in Italy and is considered the world's first purpose built ski resort. Residents of Milan and Turin really exerted their best efforts to construct a small, secluded ski resort where they can enjoy their weekends, and today it has grown to become a beautiful, picturesque town. In order climb Mont Blanc, Europe's highest peak, take the cable car and head to the ridge, which offers vistas that extend endlessly. It would also be a good idea to consult a guide, due to the many unmarked trails.
