He is narrowly behind Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden in the running, who has also seen his popularity spike of late. Madden recently appeared as Ikaris in the Marvel film Eternals, which boosted his Bond odds. However, he has quite a way to go to rival James Norton. The McMafia actor has already staked his claim for the role by confirming what he would bring to the character: diabetes. “I'm a diabetic. How cool would it be to have a diabetic Bond? It would be wonderful for all those sick kids out there to think even a diabetic could be Bond”. But Norton also has some extremely tough competition. Henry Cavill is neck-and-neck with Norton in the Bond competition. He has made a name for himself playing nerds in The Witcher and Superman. However, the British star confirmed recently that he “does not know” what’s going on behind the scene of the Bond casting. “Time will tell. You don’t know which direction they want to take Bond in and so I like to say that everything’s always on the table.” He is right, as we are far from a decision on who will charm us in the 26th instalment.
