MART MARCH For Ancient Romans, March was the rst month and it was celebrated as the beginning of the new year. Inspired by the symbolismof new beginnings and the awakening of spring energy, we are certain that you too are ready to together spread our wings toward new horizons, destinations and victories. Even though the operations of airlines in the region are characterised by a high level of seasonality, i.e. signi cantly greater passenger load in the period fromMay to September, compared to the rest of the year, Air Serbia had a strong growth in passenger numbers ever since the end of the last summer season, even in other months. During the previous year we have introduced as many as 23 new destinations, and, in addition to the home airport in Belgrade, startedoperating ights fromtwomore airports inSerbia. Even though all of the abovewouldbe anexceptional accomplishment even for companies much bigger than Air Serbia, we are especially proud that we also increased the average cabin load factor. We look forward to the busy summer season, which is approaching, aswell as to thenew beginnings ahead of us. It isourgreatpleasuretosharewithyou that wewill be operating ights toGeneva three times aweek as of 1st June, buildinga perfect connectionbetweenBelgrade and the world capital of watches, luxury and peace. The best of all is the fact that this ight, which only takes two hours, will allow you to enjoy a spectacular view of the highestAlpinepeakandthewondrous lake Genevawith its geyser. Starting from4th June, wewill also enable you to experience the exoticness of the Jordanian capital, Amman, so this excitingbiblical city will be less than three hours away and available four times a week. As early as the next day, we will connect you with two more exciting destinations, which were unjustly ignored on tourist maps – Lviv, “Paris of the East”, which is in western Ukraine, and Rostov on Don, “Gates to the Caucasus” in southeast Russia. We are certain that fans of artistic and culinary pleasures will be the happiest to learn that, as of 6th June, two times aweek, for just anhour and a half, they will be able to enjoy Florence, the pearl of Tuscany and the cradle of the renaissance. Finally, starting on 7th June, four times a week, we will be connecting you directly to Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, with its hospitable residents and the biggest wine cellar in the world. As you have noticed, we are trying to surprise you with nice promotional campaigns as often as possible. We will continue to do so in the coming period, in order to bring you closer to the destinations you always dreamed about, friends and family who live far from you, or business partners in other time zones. We believe in the saying that travelling rst leaves you speechless, and then turns you into a storyteller, so we invite you to write new stories on the pages of your passport. Welookforwardtothe busysummerseason, whichisapproaching, aswellastothenew beginningsahead ofus Uživajte u letu i srećan put! Iskreno vaša, Er Srbija Enjoy your ight and happy travels! Bez knjige se ne putuje No travel without the book NAJVIŠEVOLIM POLETANJE I LIKE TAKE OFF THEMOST ZAŠTO VOLITE AVIONE? WHAT DON’T YOU BOARD A PLANE WITHOUT? I no longer board a plane without a few things, and the most important is for me to have a vanity case with necessary hygiene items. It is good that everything exists in micro packages today. There is a toothbrush, toothpaste, contact lenses and, of course, some good perfume. I never board without a book – you have to read at some point, especially when it comes to shorter ights, because for longer ones there are other things – like lms, for example. I always have headphones, because in that way I can create my own little ambience. In more recent times there has been a return to fashion of handbags in which you can pack everything you need. WHY DO YOU LIKE PLANES? Travelling by plane implies that you will very quickly nd yourself in a destination that requires a long journey, while in this way you quickly change time zones, climate, and everything else. I like that nice nervousness prior to boarding, and the idea that I’m going to a new place. I always loved the moment of take-o , and I still enjoy it to this day. For those of us who didn’t live a life of luxury, that meant that for a few hours we would feel the bene ts of such a life. This service is today available to everyone, which is good. Paris New look for the Olympics Visitors to Paris in the years ahead will have an opportunity to bathe in the Seine, as well as dining in the atmosphere of an abandoned underground station, and this represents only part of the announced projects aimed at transforming the city in preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which Paris will host. The plan is to transform all abandoned and derelict spaces in the city over the next four years into hotels, museums and places for going out, participating in sport and enjoying free time. Barcelona Beer Festival Spain is undoubtedly a wine country, but once a year it becomes the centre of the world for beer lovers to gather. This happens during the annual Beer Festival, which this year takes place from 13th to 15th March and at which you are awaited by over 640 di erent types and avours of beer. For visitors who don’t like to experiment, there will be beer guides in visible yellow vests, who are available to provide advice or more information about beer that you want to try. One is located within Terminal 2, while the other is outside the terminal. Now owners can relax in the knowledge that their pets have a place to handle their physiological needs. 20 | JAN FABR U NARODNOMMUZEJU JANFABREATTHENATIONALMUSEUM PRAZNIK MALIH PRIJATELJA UNarodnommuzejuuBeogradu je do 5. aprila otvorena izložba multimedijalnog umetnika Jana Fabra Praznik malih prijatelja. Kulturnog centra Beograda. Slično entomologu, Fabr zapravo beleži, analizira i komentariše ljudske aktivnosti i emocije kroz seriju crteža, instalacija i skulptura fantastičnihinsekata. The Feast of Little Friends exhibition at the National Museum, which is curated by Joanna De Vos, deals with topics that fascinated Fabre as a young visual artist. While studying the world of spiders and insects, hebegan creating his own mythical universe centred around life and death, beauty and horror, fragility and violence, mortality and eternity - extremes that also hold an important place in Fabre’s theatrical art. The Feast of Little Friends is key to understanding not only Fabre’s contemporary visual creativity, but also his theatrical and literary oeuvre. Similarly to an entomologist, Fabre actually records, analyses and comments on human activities and emotions through a series of drawings, installations and sculptures of “fantastic insects”. Withhis largeSpidersHeadsTheatrewith real spiders, he simulates the theatre of life, but doesn’t recordwhat he sees among his“little friends”, rather he seekswithin himself images that emerge, leaving the same possibility for the viewer. The imagination remains themainmedium.TheFeast of Little Friends becomes a“feast of the senses”, while the metamorphosis of insects becomes a symbol of human existence. Gusle and ballet. Piano and concert halls, music for lm and games. The common denominator is young, successful composer Ana Krstajić, a creative ambassador for the Serbia Creates platform. After earning a master’s degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, you returned to Serbia and created “Marko”, a contemporary dance piece based on the epic poetry of the life of Prince Marko Kraljević. Where did the idea for this extraordinary work come from? “I grew up listening to my grandfather, who used to play songs and sing verses of Serbian epic ballads, so this aesthetic is very familiar tome. Fascinatedby sound, I wanted to bring the richness and creativity of our national epics to younger generations, rebranding the art of epic poetry in a contemporary way, through the sound of a string orchestra and with modern electronic instruments that mimicked the sounds of the gusle. I felt it was only possible to collaborate on a project like this with young artists who are actually from the region and who therefore instinctively understand Serbian epic poetry.” Aswell as composingmusic for concertsandcontemporary plays, you also createmusic for lm, TV serials, TV commercials and, most interestingly, video games. How di erent are these processes? “Creating music for lm or television is a similar process in that both are composed in linear time using the image as the main guide. Video games require a di erent composing technique altogether, because game music has no de nite duration and it responds to whatever the game-player triggers in the game. Although I have been working on applied music projects for some time, I have to admit that I enjoy it even more than composing music for concerts or contemporary plays. Although it requires speci c time commitments and a stepping out of the usual comfort zones, these are precisely the conditions where art can ourish.” What are you currently working on and what are your plans for the future? “I’m composing music for a theatre play by Vashe Zheleznov, MaximGorky, directed by Zlatko Sviben at the National Theatre in Belgrade, together with my colleague JanaRančić.With the teamfromDevotionStudios, I’mworking on the nal details of music for Heroic, a Nordeus video game. As part of the Sonic Tree Studio in Belgrade, I’m composing and orchestrating music for a feature lm and a domesticTV series to be aired on Radio-Television Serbia this year, while I’mplanning tomove to Los Angeles soon,, to continue my professional development.” I grew up listening to my grandfather playing music from the epics, so this aesthetic was familiar and fascinating to me
