Žuta polja uljane repice u cvatu prostiru se do hori-
zonta.
menom, spada u tri najznačajnije uljane kulture u svetu.
Osim eko-
nomske koristi, nepregledni žuti pejzaži uvek služe put-
nicima kao nagoveštaj skorog dolaska letnjeg perioda.
e
Yellow fields of rapeseed in bloom stretch to the
horizon. At this time of year this is a common sight to be-
hold beside the roads that lead through the flatland areas
of Serbia. This industrial plant, which has multiple uses, is
one of the world’s three most important oil crops. It is gain-
ing growing importance in the production of bio-renew-
able energy sources – one hectare can be used to produce
around 400 litres of biodiesel.
Just like in other European countries, where rapeseed
crops have tripled in the last ten years, a similar trend
is also taking place in Serbia. In addition to economic
benefits, the yellow landscapes always serve to remind
travellers of the approach of the summer period.
