TPOTY su 2003. osnovali Kris i Karen

Kou. U to vreme je film bio glavni fotografski

medij i na konkurs su pristizale odštampane

fotografije. Danas, kad su digitalne kamere

postale uobičajene, slike mogu da se učitaju i

preko Interneta. Uprkos tehnološkom napret-

remained constant.

“From Day One we stated

that image quality, expertise and integrity of

the judging panel, and protecting photogra-

phers’ rights were all essential to us, and that

hasn’t changed,” says Karen.

“I think a great photographer would always

be able to take great images, regardless of

technology. When digital cameras started to

become more readily available, we noticed a

dip in quality of entries, though not amongst

those that went on to win, for a while. This was

because it was so easy for people just to keep
